Becky Buller

If you’re a fan of acoustic music, particularly bluegrass, and you haven’t heard of fiddler Becky Buller, there’s a good chance you’ve heard some of her songs. Becky’s compositions have been recorded by Ricky Skaggs (“Music To My Ears”), Rhonda Vincent (“Fishers of Men”), Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver (“Be Living”), Josh Williams (“You Love Me Today”), and Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out (“My Angeline” and “Rest My Weary Feet.”).

Becky grew up in a very musical southern Minnesota family. The Bullers had a band called Prairie Grass with Gordy and Roxy Shultz for many years. Becky studied classical violin with both Patti Tryhus and Charles Gray and was in the Mankato Area Youth Symphony and even the Minnesota All-State Orchestra throughout high school. But her heart was always that of a fiddler.

Becky graduated in 2001 with a public relations degree from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) where she took part in their Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Music program. That same year, Becky won first place in the bluegrass category of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest in Wilksboro, NC.

Also in 2001, Becky hit the road to fiddle for Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike. Becky spent ten years touring internationally, writing for, and recording with the group, producing several of Val’s most recent records. In 2011, she decided to pursue a performing career of her own.

Becky was featured on the cover of the the Spring 2012 issue of Fiddler Magazine and penned the title cut of Special Consensus‘ album Scratch Gravel Road, which was nominated for the 2012 Best Bluegrass Album Grammy.

During 2013 and 2014, Becky teamed up with Darin & Brooke Aldridge and their fine band. She can be heard on their album Flying (2013) on the Organic Records label as well as their latest album Snapshots (2015) on the Mountain Home label.

In January of 2015…at long last!..Becky hit the road with her own band! Look for the Becky Buller Band in performance near you.

Since 2005, Becky has also been a member of the award-winning Daughters of Bluegrass, joining them in performance when scheduling allows.

Becky has two previous solo records to her credit: Little Bird (2004) and Rest My Weary Feet (2000). She also released a duet album with Valerie Smith: Here’s A Little Song (2007). Becky is featured on several of Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike’s recordings as well as three albums from the award-winning Daughters of Bluegrass: Pickin’ Like A Girl (2012), Back To The Well (2006) and Bluegrass Bouquet (2008).

Becky’s third solo album, ‘Tween Earth And Sky, was released in October 2014 on the Dark Shadow Recording label. It was the #1 album on the National Airplay Chart in the March and April 2015 issues of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. The singles “Nothin’ To You” and “Southern Flavor” both made the Top 10 of the same chart in April 2015 at #4 and #7, respectively.

Becky was a 2014 nominee for IBMA’s Songwriter of the Year award and included Fiddler Magazine’s Fiddlers’ 20 book/cd set.

The Brombies

The Brombies are a Los Angeles, CA band formed by Jo Ellen & George Doering in the late 1980’s. All of the band members have played different styles of music from an early age, but for the past five years they’ve been dedicated to traditional bluegrass. They’ve all been performing as professional musicians for too long to even mention & as individuals they each have a long list of credits. They are all prominent in the southern California recording & bluegrass scene. With Jo Ellen on guitar & vocals, George on mandolin & vocals, Keith Rosier on bass, Patrick Sauber on banjo & vocals, and John Plotnik on guitar and you’ve got an exciting band full of talent and experience. These seasoned performers travel all over the western states playing at various bluegrass festivals. The band places a lot of emphasis on the vocal harmonies and instrumentals, but their primary goal is to present their original songs and to play some music that might lift the spirits of the audience for that brief time they are there. Jo Ellen & George were winners in the Bluegrass & Gospel categories for the Chris Austin Songwriters Contest at Merlefest in 2007, 2009 & 2010. They’ve also been honored to perform in the IBMA Songwriters Showcase in Nashville in 2006 & 2010. Rhonda Vincent has recorded “Anywhere Is Home When You’re With Me”, one of Jo Ellen and George’s songs from their first CD.

The Brombies (Brumby’s) are the wild horses that roam the outback of Australia.
